Advice on the rescheduled date for this work will be provided when confirmed.
Airservices Australia CEO, Jason Harfield, has received the Brisbane New Parallel Runway Flight Paths Post Implementation Review Independent Review Final Report from Trax International (Trax).
Trax was appointed by Mr. Harfield to independently review and make improvement recommendations across all aspects of the Brisbane PIR, with a particular focus on opportunities to limit and, where possible, reduce impacts of aircraft noise.
Mr. Harfield will now review the Final Report before publishing the report on our website by mid-August. Airservices will also prepare our recommended approach in response to the Trax Final Report, ahead of stakeholder and community meetings scheduled for early September.
Brisbane Airport Corporation will be conducting maintenance work on the legacy runway (01R/19L) on 2 August 2022, starting 10:00AM and concluding at 4:00PM. If the works are completed ahead of this time, the runway will be returned to service earlier. Maintenance is required on the runways aeronautical ground lighting. Additional civil maintenance and pavement works will also be conducted during the closure.
Community members may notice a temporary change to aircraft operations during this work, as all arrivals and departures will be conducted using the new parallel runway (01L/19R).
The noise improvement trials to extend Simultaneous Opposite Direction Parallel Runway Operations (SODPROPS) hours and to restrict intersection departures on the new parallel runway will not be affected by this maintenance.

Extended Simultaneous Opposite Direction Parallel Runway Operations (SODPROPS) trial
We are trialling the extension of SODPROPS operations from 6am to 8am on Saturday and Sunday mornings, when weather conditions allow. When SODPROPS is in use, jets and most propeller-driven (turboprop) aircraft arrive and depart over Moreton Bay.

On 7 May 2022, a further extension of SODPROPS was added on Saturday evening from 8pm to 10pm. The results of this extension will be reported in the next quarterly report.
Restriction on intersection departures from the New Parallel Runway trial
We are trialling restricting intersection departures for all aircraft (jets and turboprops - excluding emergency service aircraft) from the new runway over the city. This means aircraft will commence their take-off roll from the northern end of the new runway.

Brisbane Airport Corporation will be conducting urgent maintenance work on the legacy runway (01R/19L) on 21 June 2022, starting 10:00AM and concluding at 4:00PM. If the works are completed ahead of this time, the runway will be returned to service earlier. This maintenance is required to repair asphalt defects caused by recent wet weather events.
Community members may notice a temporary change to aircraft operations during this work, as all arrivals and departures will be conducted using the new parallel runway (01L/19R).

Daytime focus group interest - Morningside area
A suggestion has been received for a daytime focus group, for community members that are unable to attend the already advertised out-of-business-hours sessions. Due to the central location of Morningside, we have proposed an additional focus group in the Morningside area on Wednesday, 15 June 2022, starting at 10AM. An option to register for this focus group has been added to the registration survey to gauge interest.
St Lucia/Taringa/Toowong focus group interest
A suggestion has been received for a focus group in the St Lucia/Taringa/Toowong area. We have proposed a focus group in this area on Friday, 17 June 2022, starting at 6PM. An option to register for this focus group has been added to the registration survey to gauge interest. Alternatively, people in these areas are welcome to attend any of the other sessions.

Trax International (Trax) is holding a series of Community Focus Groups in Brisbane during June 2022. The main goal of the focus groups is to share information and listen and learn from people affected by aircraft noise. The focus groups intend to:
- Discuss the potential improvement opportunities identified in the Interim Report
- Gather feedback from communities about their experiences of aircraft noise in different areas
- Start a dialogue with communities about options to manage and mitigate noise impacts
The outputs of the focus groups will be used, alongside contributions from other stakeholders, to inform Trax’ Final Report.

Trax International (Trax) released an Interim Report identifying a range of potential short, medium, and long-term improvement opportunities in April. These opportunities are now being reviewed in more detail.
In June, Trax will hold workshops and invite community input as they work towards the development of their final report.
The sessions will be advertised via this site, with alerts sent out to registered community members. We will advise of the dates and locations of these sessions next week.
