The view from Parafield Tower - Edition 1 Launch!
The view from Parafield Tower
Edition 1, September 2025
Welcome to the launch edition of ‘The view from Parafield Tower’ newsletter. We hope this initiative provides operational learnings that keep Parafield pilots and operators informed and safe, both on the ground and in the air.
In the first edition of The view from Parafield Tower, you’ll find guidance and tips on adhering to published procedures, including minimising runway occupancy times and vacating safety, along with information on the importance of minimising frequency congestion and using standard phraseology. Further, we explore common issues such as calling on the incorrect frequency, along with the importance of following ERSA procedures for departing and arriving at Parafield.
We also discuss what to do when queried by ATC, or where a pilot is confused or concerned that an instruction may have been issued in error.
ATC frequently observe Parafield pilots taking action to learn and grow a positive safety culture at Parafield. Each edition we will further aim to highlight examples of great airmanship being observed, as well and exploring opportunities for learning for pilots and ATC alike.
