Outcome of the Hobart Airport Runway 30 NAP Trial Assessment
The Hobart Airport Runway 30 Noise Abatement Procedure (NAP) Trial period has now concluded.
A summary of our assessment against the published success criteria is provided below.
Measurement/KPI | Assessment | Result |
---|---|---|
Safety | Nil safety occurrences | Success |
Distribution of aircraft movements across both arrival paths (target 50% +/- 10%) | Result is within target range: 43% used short approach 57% used long approach |
Success |
Number of dwellings, population and noise sensitive sites subject to 60 decibel noise events (24hrs) when compared to current operations | The number of dwellings and noise sensitive sites subject to 60 decibel and above noise events reduced from 797 to 23 (N60_10 event or more contour) | Success |
The assessment has concluded that the NAP has successfully achieved the stated objective to bring about a more equitable distribution of aircraft movements across both arrival paths, addressing the imbalance of use identified in the Post Implementation Review (PIR).
Given the success of the trial when measured against the criteria, the NAP will be implemented as a permanent operation with immediate effect.
