Update 10 - Bankstown Traffic Levelling proposal update
Thank you to everyone who provided feedback on the Bankstown Traffic Levelling Proposal.
We are pleased to now release the Industry Engagement Report for this activity:
(1) Industry Engagement Report - Bankstown Airport Traffic Levelling Proposal
The overarching industry feedback highlighted the inherently dynamic nature of general aviation activities at Bankstown Airport. Submissions highlighted industry needs for flexibility to adjust departure times in response to variables, such as syllabus needs, pilot readiness, instructor availability, aircraft serviceability and weather changes. While the booking system tool has been implemented by Airservices at a range of airports, Bankstown Airport and users expressed concerns that such a system is unsuitable for their needs.
In response, Airservices will not proceed with the airwork booking system along with the 3-minute spacing requirement.
Based on industry feedback, Bankstown departures will continue to be tactically managed by air traffic controllers consistent with current procedures. This approach reflects industry preference while maintaining the flexibility to manage demand dynamically.
