Beachside Skydive is a new, small tourism business at Shellharbour which wants to use Shellharbour Airport as a base for skydiving activities.
What’s changing?
Beachside Skydive will operate at Pioneer Park, Shellharbour and Shellharbour South Beach in September 2022. These skydiving activities are not expected to impact standard operations into and out of Shellharbour Airport. Beachside Skydive has been working with Airservices Australia to formalise a Letter of Agreement (LOA) for its operations.
What will you notice?
Beachside Skydive will depart and return to Shellharbour Airport using standard circuit departure procedures and flight paths specifically chosen with community noise abatement in mind.
Aircraft will generally climb to 12,000-14,000ft (3.6km-4.6km), with the majority of the climb sequence occurring over the ocean to lessen the noise impacts on the community.
Beachside Skydive will then track over the drop zones to commence the skydive operations. Once complete, aircraft will descend over the ocean to an appropriate altitude for a standard return to Shellharbour Airport.
Operations will occur during daylight hours (not before 9AM), with approximately one drop per hour.
Communities in the vicinity of the drop zones may notice aircraft tracking to and from the coast to conduct the skydiving operations.
Beachside Skydive and Airservices Australia are committed to proactive, open and transparent community engagement and to minimising noise impacts on the community. We will closely monitor community feedback.
How do I provide feedback?
Community members can contact Beachside Skydive via email with any questions or noise improvement suggestions. Contact info@beachsideskydive.com.au.
Feedback on these new operations is requested by 10 August 2022.
Beachside Skydive will share all community feedback with Airservices Australia to support the final assessment of its proposed operations.
