Mackay & Rockhampton Towers Proposal for Amended Hours

Background:

Mackay and Rockhampton published ERSA Tower hours were amended at the start of Covid-19 pandemic to facilitate teams roster alignment within Brisbane Centre. The SAFRA service is currently provided by Cairns TCU controllers from Brisbane Centre, and provides a service outside of the tower hours. The extended tower hours have been amended via NOTAM since April 2020. The variation of Mackay and Rockhampton published ERSA tower hours was required to facilitate staff availability for the SAFRA service.

As of June 16 2022 the SAFRA service will cease, and an ATS approach surveillance service for Mackay and Rockhampton aerodromes will commence from the Brisbane Air Traffic Control Centre. This RADAR based service will likely mirror the Tower hours.

Proposal for Change:

As a result of the above change, Airservices Australia have taken the opportunity to review the Mackay and Rockhampton Tower hours of operation.

We would therefore like to take this opportunity to engage with our customers on the proposed change of hours.

We have reviewed our customer schedules at Mackay and Rockhampton airports and have come up the amended hours to fit these schedules as per the tables below:

The current approvals expire on the 16 June 2022.
