Short Term Noise Monitoring Reports and Proposed Noise Monitoring Program
Short Term Noise Monitoring Reports
The three latest short term noise monitoring completion reports for noise monitoring at Palms Village, Gray Street Depot, and Pyramid Holiday Park are now available below:
- Palms Village short term noise monitoring completion report
- Gray Street Depot short term noise monitoring completion report
- Pyramid Holiday Park short term noise monitoring completion report
The Gray Street Depot location provided the best quality data, with the lowest percentage of community noise events and highest precision. A temporary noise monitor has been re-deployed to this location whilst further engagement continues.
Proposed Noise Monitoring Program
A ‘Gold Coast Airport Noise Monitoring Program’ was proposed to the Gold Coast Airport Community Aviation Consultation Group (CACG) as an ongoing community-driven program that provides better outcomes through improved data capture.
Temporary Noise Monitoring Programs provide a range of benefits that cannot be achieved with permanent noise monitors:
- ability to test/re-test a variety of locations (wider data capture)
- ability to test locations at different periods in time (to capture seasonal change)
- completion reports with detailed results
- greater evidence base to improve noise modelling for future airspace and flight path changes.
It is proposed that the noise monitoring locations will be chosen by the CACG and added to a list for Airservices to work through. The standard deployment period will be 3 months (this can be varied by the CACG). Airservices (via contractor) will place a temporary noise monitor as close as possible to the CACG-chosen location (the final location is dependent site availability and approval from landowners).
Real time noise data will continue to be available on Webtrak and completion reports will be made available on Aircraft in Your Neighbourhood.
Airservices is seeking feedback on the proposed Gold Coast Airport Noise Monitoring Program to determine if this proposal would meet the needs of the Gold Coast community. To provide feedback, please complete our survey here. The survey will remain open for a 3 week public comment period between 9th – 30th May 2024.
The outcomes of this engagement will be released on this page following the public comment period.
This project is now complete.
