Modernisation of Australia’s AIP – IFR and VFR Charts
What is changing?
Airservices is modernising our aeronautical information publications and related data products for everyone operating in Australian airspace.
As part of this effort, we are implementing a Geographic Information System (GIS)-based charting capability to efficiently produce our aeronautical charting products. This presents the opportunity for our suite of Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) and Visual Flight Rules (VFR) charts to be modernised and standardised to a format that aligns with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) specifications. This is planned for introduction during 2025.
Next steps
Later this year, we will be consulting with you on the proposed changes to identify and capture any safety and operational impacts these changes or transition may have on you. During the consultation, you will learn more about the modernisation of Australia’s aeronautical charts, explore IFR and VFR chart prototypes, ask questions and provide feedback to us directly.
We encourage you to subscribe to this page for notifications and updates on the upcoming consultation.
