Proposed design open for feedback

The Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA), in consultation with Airservices Australia, is proposing to reclassify a portion of the Sydney Control Zone (CTR) to class G airspace from the surface to 1500ft and introduce two VFR routes to the southeast of Bankstown.

CASA is preparing an airspace change proposal (ACP) to establish two (2) daytime visual flight rule (VFR) lanes to the south and south-east of the Bankstown control zone.

The proposed design is intended to reduce airspace risks associated with constrained nature of the Bankstown control zone, sustained growth in air traffic in the region while also providing equitable and efficient access for airspace users.

CASA is now inviting feedback from the aviation industry on this proposal until 22 October 2024. Please visit the CASA Consultation Hub here for more information and to provide aviation industry feedback.
