Noise monitoring available on Webtrak

Following a site selection and doorknocking process to find willing hosts, we have installed noise monitors in Lennox Head, Lynwood and Tucki Tucki. Live noise monitoring data is now available on our WebTrak page. The monitor originally installed in Ruthven was relocated to Tucki Tucki due to background noise levels not meeting noise monitoring requirements.

The monitors capture noise levels from current aircraft operations and will continue recording throughout the upcoming airspace changes, enabling comparison of noise levels before and after implementation of the new flight paths.

Controlled airspace around Ballina and the new flight paths will begin operating on 9 July 2026, with the start date adjusted from June to align with aeronautical publication requirements.

In June, we will begin pre-implementation communications in line with our Community Engagement Plan, to remind communities about the upcoming changes and how to provide feedback once the new flight paths are in place.
