Archerfield Airport has experienced an increase in aviation businesses that operate onsite, resulting in an increased demand for airspace and circuit operations, thereby escalating both congestion and operational complexity. Responding to similar experiences at other aerodromes across Australia, Airservices Australia has successfully implemented air work and circuit booking systems to enable air traffic control (ATC) and airspace users to manage capacity and tactical workload safely.
Airservices is considering the option of an air work booking system at Archerfield Airport to support the safe and efficient management of aerodrome traffic, and to more effectively communicate available aerodrome capacity. To facilitate feedback from stakeholders, sample air work booking webpages for Archerfield Airport have been developed and links are provided on the right-hand side
The webpages display the following:
2 separate webpages for fixed-wing and helicopter operations
15-minute minimum time slots
7 fixed-wing circuit slot columns per day (280 individual slots per day)
3 helicopter circuit slot columns per day (2 if RWY 04/22 active) (120 individual slots per day)
2 helicopter hover ops columns per day (80 individual slots per day)
Bookings can be made 2 weeks in advance
Operators who currently use the air work booking system have varying requirements, a key concern prior to implementation related to the fair distribution of slots. At Parafield Airport for example, we have addressed this by reserving an entire slot column each day for small operators and only made available to large operators at 1730 local the day prior. Our proposal will also consider the inclusion of a similar equitable airspace access for all operators.
A User Guide is available for reference and is available on the right-hand side. Registration for the air work booking system will include acceptance of the Fair Use Policy attached to the User Guide. Malicious behaviour is and will continue to be monitored by Airservices’ National Coordination Centre.
How do I get involved?
As part of our commitment to engage with our stakeholders, we are seeking your feedback on whether you support the implementation of an air work booking system at Archerfield Airport, and if not, to provide further information about your opposition and or concerns with the proposal. Subscribe to this project page to receive regular updates by clicking the Stay Informed button. You can provide feedback on this proposal to Airservices using the 'Submit your Feedback' form between 07 March 2022 to 21 March 2022.
What happens after the feedback period?
We will take into consideration all feedback as we explore this option. Your support to deliver this initiative is appreciated and we look forward to your feedback on our proposal.
